Satisfied with my attention, Hilo's stopped bothering the other cats. My arm rests across his upper back and he's settled into a comfortable position. Hilo also feels like he's closest to me, and therefore won the Mama Attention Game. Everyone else was happy with their original positions, and they aren't going to bother to correct him.
The final positions: Tablo is a fluffy black loaf on the left, laying slightly elevated on the bolster pillow beneath the covers, his hind end near Hilo. Hilo is cuddled against my ribs, fully relaxed under my forearm, his subtly striped grey left paw fully-extended with a relaxed paw, his right paw in a relaxed curl against the submerged pillow. To the far right of the photo, Pig and Tess haven't moved since Hilo came to sit by me. They remain in a cream and cocoa and black pile of fluff.

A Siamese cat and a fluffy black cat laying together on a bedspread of tropical leaves. She’s purring like a lawnmower and the Siamese is annoyed, but not entirely hating this. He’s old and arthritic and doesn't want to move unless absolutely necessary.

She's laid down now against him, body mirroring his position, facing away while still purring to keep him reassured that she’s only there for snuggles.
The cuddle puddle is now complete. The Siamese is fully relaxed and has laid his head down on his paws, back to deep sleep, and the black cat is curled against him, her head on his tummy, using him as a pillow. Her purrs have dwindled to a low rumble as she falls asleep against him.

My little science experiment, Tesla (Nikola) was born in 2014 in a litter of polydactyl kitties, literally the "black sheep". All her siblings were adopted, but she stayed at the foster for 6 months, shuffled back and forth from adoption fairs, TERRIFIED. Then I saw her on Petfinder 🥹 #TeslaBei

Folded all the way into a lowercase c shape now, she's grooming her rear end, her legs now sticking comically UP in the air in a very wide V to maintain her balance. Her right foot is blurry because it's waving around in little circles as she cleans, and occasionally the extra toe in her right foot reaches out for...something. The white spot in the middle of her "body" is the white inside her left ear, her right ear is closer to her right leg as she cleans the inside of her right thigh.
Her legs have lowered back down to a flat V against the comforter as she cleans higher up her tummy closer to her navel.
Tesla (Nikola) is my "little science experiment" polydactyl black cat with some neuro issues, a mild deformation of her rib cage, and an odd propensity for turning her head in a skyward arc instead of left to right when she looks around. God I love this strange little animal 🥹 #TeslaBei
