#OTD 9 AD the Battle of the #Teutoburg Forest came to an end, after 4 gruelling days and severe casualties for the Romans. One of the greatest defeats for the Roman army.
The defeat had been so traumatic for the Romans that the legions were never given again the numbers 17, 18, and 19.
