Times New Roman: standard capital I and an italicized capital I. The difference is noticeable. Arial font: a capital I, an italicized capital I, and a forward slash. The difference between the last two is negligible at best.
The capital letter I effectively can't be italicized in a non-serif font. It either doesn't lean at all, or it looks like a slightly too straight forward slash.
Of course I can't demonstrate that here, since text formatting isn't an option - much less fonts […]
