Gordon & MacPhail-owned #TheCairnDistillery released a series of blends to show the flavour profile they were aiming for.
Here’s my thoughts on the 25 and 30 year old whiskies from the recent tasting session with @thewhiskywire.bsky.social

...shared, sipped and savoured the 12, 18, 25 and 30 Year Old releases from their CRN57° Blended Malt Scotch Whisky range — offering a glimpse into the kinds of flavours that may emerge from their future single malt releases. #TheCairnDistillery #TheWhiskyWireTasting #Scotch #Whisky
When visiting the distillery shortly after it opened, I was under the impression that this range was only going to be available at the visitor centre itself. So, maybe it was originally produced with a certain customer in mind? #TheCairnDistillery
Another excellent evening, thanks Steve &
#TheCairnDistillery they got better with age, I really enjoyed tasting the 25 & 30. 🥃 Great whiskies 👍🏼 👏🏻
Once again, a huge thanks to all those who took part and followed along to tonight’s epic The Cairn Distillery Tasting. Goodnight everybody! #TheCairnDistillery #Scotch #Whisky #LetsHearItForTheBlends #BePartOfTheDramfotainment
Agreed! Nice friendly, honest whisky chat #TheCairnDistillery
Thanks very much Steve. Enjoyed the drams, but would love to try them at 46% non-chill filtered. Hope The Cairn releases are at that higher strength when the core range is ready. The 3yo First Peek at 57% is rather good and bodes well for the future #TheCairnDistillery @thewhiskywire.bsky.social
Not sure which my favourite was, but I think #TheCairnDistillery 18 Year Old is the best bang for buck of the bunch. Thanks @thewhiskywire.bsky.social for organising. Love #BlueSkyTastings, they are like the old days of the other place.
Thank you Steve and also thanks to #TheCairnDistillery for a cracking tasting 🥃
Thank you to #TheCairnDistillery and, of course, @thewhiskywire.bsky.social, for a wonderful evening full of flavours. My dram of the night was CRN57° 12 Years Old, purely because I found it less dry on the palate, but in terms of lingering flavour the CRN57° 30 Years Old was amazing.

A really great tasting @thewhiskywire.bsky.social 🙏 a very strong lineup that bodes well for #TheCairnDistillery if this is what they’re aiming for. The nose of the 30yo wins the night for me, but the palate of the 25yo was equally memorable.
As always, a huge thanks to Steve @thewhiskywire.bsky.social for organising a really interesting set of drams. Favourite of the night was the 25, closely followed by the 18. Thought the 30 was a little underwhelming in comparison
#TheCairnDistillery
Huge thanks to @thewhiskywire.bsky.social for tonight's #TheCairnDistillery Tastings and 4 great drams. The 18 and 30 year olds were the stars for me but I can't wait to try the drams from their new distillery
The 12 y/o and 18 y/o are great value for money. The 30 y/o, although still very good, lacked a certain something for me. The 25 y/o is a belter of a dram #TheCairnDistillery
Thanks as always for a wonderful tasting. really great drams. The 25yo was my pick of the bunch. I feel privileged to have tasted these whiskies tonight. Thanks to #TheCairnDistillery and @thewhiskywire.bsky.social
Huge thanks to @thewhiskywire.bsky.social and #TheCairnDistillery for the chance to try these 4 blends and my fellow BlueSkyers for sharing their thoughts.
For me the 18yo stood out - loved the berry jam notes!
Tonight, we've shared, sipped and savoured a bounty of Blended Malt Scotch whisky wares from The Cairn Distillery CRN57° range. What are your overall thoughts and highlights? #TheCairnDistillery #Scotch #Whisky #LetsHearItForTheBlends #BePartOfTheDramfotainment
CRN57° 30 Years Old. Palate (Cont.). This is so smooth, and I love the rich fruit notes. The finish is, again, quite orangey @thewhiskywire.bsky.social #TheCairnDistillery #Scotch #Whisky #LetsHearltForTheBlends
CRN57° 30 Years Old
#TheCairnDistillery
Palate: dark fruits, blackberry/plum, spiced wood, ginger heat, uncle joes mintballs, blackcurrant and liquorice sweets, red liquorice
🥃😍
The palate of the 30YO is delicate. There is a honey sweetness, delicate floral notes, lemon zest and gentle ginger spice. #TheCairnDistillery
CRN57° 30 Years Old. Palate. Very smooth, with a mouthfeel that would suggest a higher ABV, with pronounced notes of sweet red fruit and oak @thewhiskywire.bsky.social #TheCairnDistillery #Scotch #Whisky #LetsHearltForTheBlends
Fruits of the forest yoghurt. Stick Toffee Pudding! More orange spritz. Dusty leather. Creamy toffee. Coffee. #TheCairnDistillery
Dram 4: on the palate, strawberry jam, Blackjack sweeties and fresh ginger #TheCairnDistillery
Finish: Mild astringency, dried fruit, liquorice and oak spice
#TheCairnDistillery
#TheCairnDistillery 30yo
Palate: herbal notes mingle with roasted coffee beans, ginger snaps, Granny Smith apples and some dark chocolate. Much more woody finish than the previous drams.
With water, there's milk chocolate salted caramels, lime Starbursts, Key lime pie, wine gums, milk chocolate ginger, rose & violet creams, croquembouche, spun sugar, Curly Wurly, dill, and a ginger milkshake, mint hot chocolate & crème caramel finish #TheCairnDistillery
