Karen Ocamb Hey folks -TONIGHT in San Diego, seniors, aging LGBTQ+ survivors of the government's 1950s Lavender Scare war on homosexuals, and closeted Baby Boomers who fought internalized homophobia wars in the 60s, and brazen fighters in the colorful counterculture/free speech movements, anti-Vietnam War protests, Stonewall, Gay Liberation, feminism and the AIDS crisis will discover if they've got another fight on their hands - this time from our own community. Here's an alert from three San Diego community leaders: "Community Confronts LGBTQ Center Over $18.9M Trust Transparency." This is an ongoing, growing accountability dispute at The San Diego LGBTQ Center involving an $18.9 million trust-one of the largest gifts in its history. "For years, community members have made a single, specific request: release the governing trust document. The Center has not done so. Instead, leadership has offered shifting explanations of how the funds may be used-while withholding the only document that can definitively determine donor intent. At tonight's Board of Directors meeting, community advocates will directly confront leadership, raising concerns about: Transparency • Fiduciary responsibility • Donor intent • Public trust."
