I was going to try to do a raw screenshot of the page in LibreOffice, but even resizing it didn't turn out very nice. I'm hoping porting the snippet into Obsidian makes it a bit more legible, even if I have to use another screenshot!

#WriteSky #TheEmergenceChronicles Progress Update!
Struggling to see how to start Act 2 properly for Convergence rn... Maybe it's time to brainstorm a timeline of events? I've been doing well pantsing it so far but I'm running out of ideas to connect what I've written to what I've got planned lol
I think I figured out how to make a spoiler-free copy of the Series Bible. Or, it keeps a secret that isn't going to be revealed in two weeks anyway. Beware: I wrote it in markdown. :P #WriteSky #SFF #WorldBuilding #TheEmergenceChronicles

Hi! I'm on Royal Road now, too! I think I like the interface here; it keeps a platform-adapted copy of my formatting, too. Once my Amazon exclusivity expires, I'll put Emergence alongside its sequel here, too.

Alex Riven Convergence Julius is unmoored. After five years carrying the First Lie - the truth that his order's God is a mad impostor - he is now their active saboteur. Elara is cracking. Isolated and seething, her search for answers leads to unlocking the most dangerous secrets of the Liber de Profundus, a tome that offers truth at a price that could turn her wrath into an inferno. Lilith is rebuilding. Having spent years healing the land and her soul, she must learn if her power can protect as well as it can mend. Raven is under pressure. Bound by an instinctual Creed and haunted by old fractures, she must find her own solid ground before her family's fraying bonds snap. Rudy is afraid. With his father dead and the Design closing in on his daughter, he faces an impossible choice: abandon one family to save another. In the aftermath of Emergence, the war for reality enters a new, more intimate phase. The cost of knowledge will be paid in blood, sanity, and soul. The Convergence has begun.
Gonna put up a sneak peek of my progress for Convergence! If you're interested in the next phase of #TheEmergenceChronicles I'll have it on Scribble Hub! Synopsis in the ALT:

The prose of this book was... fantastic; it was extravagant in a way that was... fitting for the religious tone and fantasy-esque genre. I really enjoyed that the first chapter threw you straight into the plot, weaving more world-building and lore organically into the narrative as the plot progressed further. The characters were all... likeable and well-written. Lilith had undergone a lot of trauma from her parents who... told her that she corrupts everything she touches... Naturally, sheโs reluctant to become involved further with Elara, convinced that sheโs going to ruin them both. Rudy has his own parental difficulties, but reaches out to extended family for help with escaping The Grand Design. Elara starts out not knowing who she is, so her personality is... muted. As the story progresses, she gradually recovers her memories, and becomes an absolute badass. Raven was a really interesting character; the chapters from her perspective were... cool and abstract. Lilith and Rudy had such a good dynamic; I loved their sibling bond, and all of their interactions were so funny. The romance between Lilith and Elara was so good. I... liked the imagery of Elara describing Lilith as her anchor. Lilith sees this as a negative thing; worried that sheโs going to pull Elara down and ruin them both. But Elara sees it as a good thing, keeping her grounded, and wishing that Lilith would trust her to pull them both up. The Grand Design as a concept was... interesting. I liked the organisation as an antagonist because they had believable motivations and a complex method to achieve them, without feeling flat. I also found the Grand Architect role... interesting; Iโd be so intrigued to learn more about how the organisation came to be and how the role of the Grand Architect developed as time went on. Overall, this was a really unique and fun read! It definitely had darker elements, but the overarching theme of found family and letting people help you was a joy to read.
Thank you @ech0reads.bsky.social for your words of encouragement and detailed review! Seeing the evidence of my efforts paying off is relieving, too, especially with the balance of humor and trauma. ๐๐ฅฐ

... shaft. Its cover shut but its purpose mundane. The systemโs designers had assumed no one would be both powerful enough to bypass its physical security, yet subtle enough to not trigger its esoteric alarms. They had prepared for a battering ram, not for a breath of air. Elara placed a hand on the cold metal grate. She didnโt try to break it. Instead, she let a power seep into the concept of the seal itself. She presented it with a simple, unassailable truth: This is a passage for air. I am, for this purpose, air. ...
... The metal didnโt bend. The bolts didnโt shear. They simplyโฆ ceased to be relevant. The cover swung inward on silent hinges, offering a dark, vertical shaft that smelled of recycled, sterile air and the faint, greasy tang of machinery. It was a tight fit, but she was slender, having stowed the Celestial armaments. Despite the odd glowing dark, her resolve remained strong โ no, stronger. She slipped inside, pulling the cover closed behind her. The darkness was near-absolute, the only light a faint, sickly green from...
This doesn't spoil much, and I wanna share a little bit. Superpowers are sometimes so much cooler if they're quiet. I loved writing this scene. ๐ถโ๐ซ๏ธ

Worldbuilding Notes The Liber de Profundis is not just a MacGuffin, itโs a corrupting weapon and a treatise on the violation of sovereignty. Studying it should be dangerous and psychologically taxing. Flidaisโs domain should show physical signs of her state post-erasure (e.g., a โBlight of Grief,โ a grove where some trees are frozen in rage, others weep sap, the air is thick with contradictory energy). The ancestral spirit world and the Fae/natural domains should react to the ontological crime. Itโs a schism in the rules of reality. Tone & Pacing Act 1 (Siberia): Claustrophobic, tense, focused on character and dread. The calm before the storm. Act 2 (The Hunt): Paranoia, chase sequences, escalating skirmishes. A thriller pace. Act 3 (Confrontation & Loss): Mythic, tragic, visceral. The pace slows in the climax for maximum emotional weight, then accelerates into the chaotic aftermath.
"Good." Alistair straightened, his gaze shifting back toward Lilith's chamber. "The Almighty's design unfolds perfectly." He turned back to the Shards. "Their applications?" "Limitless," Julius said. "We've tested one on a captured faerie. Complete cellular disintegration. No mess, no energy signatureโjust... cessation. As if the subject never existed." Alistair's shrewd blue eyes gleamed behind his glasses. "The perfect tool for pruning the Garden of Creation." He looked from the...
Took some time to brainstorm for Convergence, Book 2. Plus, I'm getting close to finishing the editing phase; 31/43 chapters locked in!

"A single, luminous tear traced a path down Elara's cheek. But where Lilith's were of despair, Elara's was of a fierce, protective grief. A small, sad, yet unwavering smile touched Elara's lips. "Your heart isn't the danger, Morgan. It's the only thing holding the door shut against the poison. And I am not afraid of what's on the other side of that door."
Here's a #WipSnip of the final version of Chapter 26. Don't worry, the knife isn't twisted yet. >:3

Still processing that it took me two days to edit Chapter 26, but I had to go to some really painful places to get it written in the first place. I'm super proud of it! I hope your hearts break.
