If anyone's interested in a deep dive into #TravelWriting, I'll be leading a 3-day workshop on Whiddy Island as part of West Cork Literary Festival in July. (I'll also be doing an event at the festival, an early preview of my forthcoming book, #ThePathlessLand.)

Obligatory #CoverReveal post: I'm delighted that @headofzeus.bsky.social got the brilliant Matt Johnson to do the cover of #ThePathlessLand (after his beautiful work on #TheGraniteKingdom). Once again, I’m very happy for you to judge this one by its cover! Book is out on 27 August 2026.

That feeling when you're at 4.5K words already and you've only ticked off one of the four things you planned to cover in this chapter... Feck it - make more road! Have just added a sort of intercalary thingummy *and* an epilogue to the grand scheme... (Also: I love post-its!) #ThePathlessLand

The bulk of this journey was done back in July; but there was a 60km gap still to fill at top right, which I finally finished last week. So that's it - 678km on foot from Dunmore Head to Burr Point. Now the business of post-it notes and reference books and Word docs begins. #ThePathlessLand
