#TheSilentSister
1 day to go - ‘“Come and see this amazing sunset,” called Cassia. Tom and Bronwen joined them. By then the sky was a deep apricot, streaked with scarlet and coral. They all watched in awed silence as the fiery orange ball sank behind the silhouette of Ithaca and disappeared.’

#TheSilentSister
2 days to go - ‘“No drive to Fiscardo is complete without stopping here. You’ll need your camera.”’
They looked down on the most amazing sight Eléni had ever seen. A sapphire and deep turquoise sea edged with frills of foam broke onto a pure white beach.’ #Myrtos
#TheSilentSister
3 days to go - ‘“Do you think my mamá made it for me?” Eléni took it from Simos. “You said I was tiny, as tiny as a doll.” Emotion flooded through her. She imagined a young dark-haired woman preparing for the birth, sitting making beautiful clothes for her baby.’

#TheSilentSister
4 days to go - ‘Putting drachmae in the slot of a small wooden box, she selected four candles and lit them in turn. She thought of her birth parents and grandparents who had perished in the earthquake. Tears welled in her eyes. RIP Mamá, Baba, Yiayiá and Pappoú.’

#TheSilentSister
5 days to go - ‘The museum building was accessed to the side… Eléni wanted to view the extensive collection of photographs depicting the aftermath of the earthquake and what the island looked like before.’

You should add "The Silent Sister," to your to-read list! It's going to be a hit! #booksky #readingcommunity #bookreview #janbaynham #thesilentsister
🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷 As promised, here is the fabulous cover of novel five, #TheSilentSister. I love it! The sky is stunning and so apt for the sunsets Eleni sees on her visit to #Kefalonia as a 20 year-old. Thank you @JoffeBooks @ChocLituk

Day 16 - #HistFicMay
In #TheSilentSister, my favourite secondary character is Simos Georgatos. An archivist, he is only man who could help her find her birth uncle. Cold and aloof at first, he, too, lost everyone in the 1953 earthquake + was sent to an orphanage. There he was beaten if he cried.
Day 14 - #HistFicMay
At the beginning of #TheSilentSister, Cassie’s ultimate goal is that Eleni will learn to speak again after the earthquake. She is even willing to leave her beloved but broken #Kefalonia to make this happen and move to #Wales.
Day 13 - #HistFicMay
In #TheSilentSister, out on August 7th, Eleni’s biggest fear is that she will never find the birth uncle who has reportedly been looking for her. Will she find out her true identity? She travels to #Kefalonia in search of her Greek #heritage.

Day 10 - #HistFicMay
In #TheSilentSister, out on August 7th, Cassia’s strength is her love for Eleni, the traumatised orphan who was pulled barely alive from the earthquake. She is determined that the little girl will speak again and not have to go into an orphanage. #historicalfiction
Day 8 - #HistFicMay. In #TheSilentSister, we meet young widow Cassia Makris when a huge earthquake strikes #Kefalonia in 1953. She helps to rescue a young girl orphaned in the disaster and raises her as her own daughter. #secrets #trauma #forgiveness #identity
Day 7 - #HistFicMay Apart from one, the locations in my novels are fictional but based on real places. #TheSilentSister, due out on August 7th, is set at the time of a factual event, the 1953 #Kefalonia earthquake. I used the names of actual towns and places, with some fictional street names.
Day 5 - #HistFicMay My next novel, #TheSilentSister, will be published on 7th August. It is mostly set in #Kefalonia in 1953 at the time of the devastating earthquake and twenty years later when Eleni returns to find out about her birth parents and grandparents who perished in the disaster.
