This black and white photo shows a wonderful encounter I had today with a stray cat on my walk around the cornfield where an old path went by, bordered on the right by a hedge and just on the other side by the cornfield. The cat (or tomcat), I hadn't looked that closely, seemed to be older and was trusting because he (or she) was rubbing his head against my legs. Her fur was shiny with alternating black and light brown patches. She was a patient model; in this shot she remained standing looking up the path as if she were about to set off on a long journey. She was also facing away from me and my camera, which reinforced the impression because I had taken the photo at ground level.
