#TheVulcan checked the Wikipedia entry for the movie, & saw that, though Johnson had been raised Evangelical, he chose to use Catholicism in this movie *for aesthetic reasons.*
He was right to do so. My Southern Baptist ass was *floored* by visual beauty when I first walked into a Catholic church.
#TheVulcan is not being furloughed!!!! HIS BOSS WAS ACTUALLY WRONG!
Vulcan already had to take last week off, to help his mom, who was having a heart procedure, & needed some help w/ repairs.
So, he wasn't there when the govt shutdown started.
When he came back, he stayed home, bc HIS BOSS...
Lol, I told #TheVulcan my test results, & said, "I might want to buy more tests from this company, if I can figure out which ones would help."
Him: "I'm responding in my head w/ that meme that says, 'Shut up & take my money!'"
Yeah, #TheVulcan has been at his new job for less than a month, & now we get to deal w/a govt shutdown.
He hasn't even had a full paycheck yet.

OH MY GOSH, there was a traffic snarl because of a lane shut-down.

The office WOULD NOT let him do the onboarding work, & won't let him FOR ANOTHER WEEK.

He was complaining good-naturedly about having to work on a different platform, & set up a new workflow from scratch.

At #TheMarathonRunner 's play, & #TheVulcan says, "Walking in here, I thought, 'This feels just like church.' Is that weird?"
Me: "No honey, that's not weird at all."
Still waiting on #TheVulcan 's certifications to cross from federal to the new company.
He can't start the new job till everything transfers.
Apparently there's a huge backlog, since SO MANY federal employees are going to the private sector.
Sigh.

By the way, #TheSupergirl ended up in Urgent Care the other night, getting 6 stitches in her foot.
Why?
Because #TheVulcan had put together our new chainsaw mill, in the living room, after saying, "It's like a LEGO SET!"
It's just a series of bars & a thin metal guard to cover the blade--NOT
....of Ohio. Including his time in school, we stayed in Ohio, & in poverty, for 10 years.
According to the recruiter, we NARROWLY avoided that exact same fate, 15 years later.
I told #TheVulcan, "This is when you tell me how much you love me, & how thankful you are that I saw the writing....
...a 6-figure salary, after 10 years of post-secondary education, suddenly paid less than the cable repair guy. AND had more competition for positions.
#TheVulcan found out that some openings had over 700 applicants. 💔
It took TWO YEARS for his Math-PhD self to find a CRAPPY job in the ass-end...
#TheVulcan just got a preliminary job offer, & accepted it.
I don't know what happens next, but the recruiter is really nice, & I asked for a timeline.
She also told me that, suddenly, in the last month, there are 35-50 candidates for every single position that opens in his field.
The fact...
#TheVulcan got the first step of another job offer today. 😍 It's a bit less than the others, BUT, insurance for the family is 100% covered.
Which actually makes up for the difference! 🥹

Last night, hubby & I were trying to find bearings to repair my giant bandsaw.

I'm nearly through the collection of mugs & glassware #TheVulcan gave me 10 yrs ago, when he toured all these govt agencies.
My MIL said, "Thank the Lord for His timing," abt #TheVulcan signing a new contract, right as stuff happened w/ his employer that I can't talk about online.
I know God did plenty, but I'd LOVE her to see that I'm the one who asked him to get a new job, reminded him weekly to get his resume out...

I'm researching several of the companies that reached out to #TheVulcan.
One of them has a CEO who, unfortunately, shares a name w/a man convicted of murdering his wife, but who was released ~10 years ago!
I was VERY relieved to realize they were not the same guy!
#TheVulcan started delivering pizzas, w/his PhD. He was re-hired in the fall, & stayed w/that university for 5 more years!
Then, he applied for this government job, that he's now held for 10 years.
That's NOT a good set of experiences to draw from.

I forgot about the first time #TheVulcan applied for jobs, after getting his PhD.
