Pearl Thusi skips Namibian event despite paid booking
South African actress DJ and media personality Pearl Thusi will no longer be attending The Weekend in the East event in Namibia this Saturday, despite payments and arrangements being made in advance.
In a statement issued by the event’s management team, Thusi’s withdrawal was described as a last-minute cancellation that has left both fans and organisers disappointed. The team say flight tickets, visa arrangements, and the down payment of the booking fee had all been paid well in advance to secure her appearance at the 31-May event.
“We are particularly disheartened that Thusi, a prominent brand figure in Africa, has chosen to inform us at the 11th hour, which we believe is a significant disregard for both her contractual commitment and the fans eagerly anticipating her appearance,” the statement reads.
Despite the setback, organisers confirmed that The Weekend in the East will proceed as planned, with Namibian hip-hop royalty Lioness set to headline the night’s entertainment.
“All activities will continue as scheduled, and guests can still expect an enriching and energetic experience,” they add.
The event, which has become a staple on Namibia’s cultural calendar, promises a dynamic celebration of music and entertainment in the east of the country. Fans are encouraged to attend and celebrate local talent, with Lioness’s performance expected to be a major highlight.
