CDC advisers vote to overturn decades-long policy on hepatitis B vaccine for infants In a controversial move, the vaccine advisory group reversed a recommendations for universal immunizing of newborns intended to protect them from a virus that attacks the liver.

Before the first dose of Hep B vax was given at birth, around 22,000 infants were infected every year.

After the policy changed, around 20 infants were infected every year.

22,000 needless Hep B infections every year down to 20!!!
