As at #Thixendale the glass is by Clayton & Bell, though less good. The fine three-light east window is strangely out of order.

Like all the Sykes-Street churches, this building is more significant than its scale: here are the beauty of holiness & a palpable sense of tranquility and sanctity.

#Thixendale has the full Sykes-Street cluster of church, rectory, school and schoolhouse (as at #Wansford and elsewhere). Lovely to see.

St Mary, #Thixendale by G.E.Street is on a typically raised site and has a lychgate, north porch, south aisle, bellcote and sanctus bell, and a curious half baptistery. 1/

Another short tour in search of ecclesiastical jewels by G.E.Street and Sir Tatton Sykes II. Today, I was in #Thixendale and #Fimber, two wonderful #Wolds villages.
