7 Aug. 1838. Thomas Port, ticket inspector, became Harrow's first steam railway fatality when he fell onto the track while stepping between carriages. His tombstone in St Mary's churchyard bears the above, fabulously gory inscription. #ThomasPort #HarrowMacabre
