🚨 Tick Check Time! 🚨

After spending time outdoors, it’s crucial to do a thorough tick check on yourself, your family, and your pets. These tiny hitchhikers love to hide in warm, moist places.

#TickBitePreventionWeek coincided with @cambridgefestival.bsky.social so I combined the two and had a very busy day talking about tick bite prevention and the @lymeresourcecentre.bsky.social patient survey with @kfarrow14.bsky.social Forgot to take photos during the event! Instead before and after.

It can be hard to know if you’ve been bitten by a tick.

Ticks can be tiny, their bites are painless & the bite area may not be itchy or painful.

Remove ticks promptly & carefully using a tick removal tool / fine tipped tweezers.

Do watch this animation by @lymediseaseuk.bsky.social and buy yourself a ticket removal tool. If you can’t find one in a pharmacy (how crazy is that?) you can buy them online or pop in to your local vet. @lymeresourcecentre.bsky.social @lymediseaseuk.bsky.social sell them.

How do ticks spread Lyme disease?

Ticks pass through 3 life stages: larva, nymph & adult, & require a blood meal in each stage.

The tick may become infected during one feed before transmitting infections during its next feed.
