Mama’s nose twitched. Wait, there was something else at the back of the bag. Plastic forgotten, she quickly grabbed the box of- Chocolates! Oh, she loved food! Chocolate was delicious in every form! Chocolate milk, chocolate pudding, chocolate cake… and of course, chocolate alone was amazing. She bit into the box, trying to open it. Come. On. Open already! She was starving! She hadn’t eaten in… an hour. Or so. Come on! “Wait, Mama, don’t-” But it was too late. She jumped back, staring at the chocolate pieces scattered around the living room. There were some on the table, on the other gifts, on the others, even on the floor… They were everywhere. …Whoops? U-Uh… She didn’t… She didn’t mean for that to happen… Her chocolates… She glanced at the others, her head low but her shoulders eyes. Like a dog caught red handed, she gave them sheepish and remorseful looks, the chocolate box feeling so empty in her hands. She was sorry… “A-A-Aww, don’t look at me like that!” Mikey whined. “I can’t stay mad at you when you look so sad…”

Adam fell to the floor. By the time he turned around, his shackles were gone, replaced by a collar of metal around his neck. It was large, with some vials attached to it that reminded him of the mind control collars a little bit too much. It was far bulkier however, and there was no way he would be able to remove it barehanded. His captors were gone, and so were his chances of escape. He tried reopening the door, but his attempts were cut short when the door tased him for it. He backed away, shaking his hurt hand. Laugher reverberated around the place. He ignored it as he got a better look at where he was. In front of him was a corridor. It split into three a few feet from him, redividing further down the paths. Adam had no idea which one to take. “Aaaah, the specimen…” The robot Stockman’s voice said. He tried to find the source of the voice, but it was bouncing around the place too much to locate. “Welcome to my labyrinth of muters.” The voice continued. “Since your senses are quite acute, as I have extensively tested in the past, I thought we could play a little game.” It said. “In this labyrinth, I have hidden a piece of cheese. Find it, and you will be free of the collar. If you cannot find it in two hours, then the mutagen included inside the collar will activate. I have seen first hand what this specific mutagen can do to one of your kind decades ago. Trust me, it was not a pretty sight. Such a downgrade on the already puny mind of the scientist of your little ‘group’.” Adam didn't know what it was talking about, but he doubted it would lie about something like this. Probably something from the past the others hadn’t told him, and he hadn’t asked. There had always been a general consensus about not asking about traumatic past events unless it was necessary. It wasn’t exactly a ‘fun’ topic. “You should get going. The clock is ticking after all.”

It didn’t take long after they regained control of their bodies for the door to reopen. Mickey instinctively tensed, sending lightnings of pain across his shell. Tears pricked at the corner of his eyes, and he quickly blinked them away before the soldiers could see his weakness. Two of them made their way to Leo, the third one stopping in front of Don, just out of his reach. He pulled out a gun, aiming it at him. “Any sudden movement and this one gets it.” He warned Leo. Leo frowned, but there wasn’t much he could do. He let the other two detach the shackles from the floor, keeping them around his limbs, just loose enough for him to be able to waddle around. He was then grabbed under his armpits and dragged outside the room. “Leo!” Mickey exclaimed. He tried pulling on his chains, but it was a lost cause. “Don’t worry Mickey. It’ll be fine.” Leo lied. And then he was gone, and so were the three soldiers. The door slammed behind them, making Mickey twitch. He stared at it for a few seconds, as if it would suddenly reopen, with Leo on the other side, completely free and holding his trusty katanas. But of course that didn’t happen. “I don’t like how he said ‘It will be fine’ and not ‘I’ll be fine’.” Mickey breathed out. “Me neither Mickey. Me neither.” Don agreed.

“And here I thought Mikey was staying here to make sure you get some rest.” He whispered, his voice partially covered by Mikey’s sleeping mumbles. “Well, you know him, no comfortable beds can get the better of him. And by ‘no’, I of course mean ‘all’.” Don replied. Leo shook his head amicably. “He has been working hard on trying to find equipment and toys for them.” He considered. He sat next to them, placing the items aside. “Finding toys for the children isn’t too hard, we’re starting to get a decent collection, but he’s been going around trying to find entertaining items for her, which is much harder to find.” Don hummed. “Yes, he has been telling me about her lingering boredom. I tried showing her some of my equipment, but uh…” He paused to chuckle.” I think sadly my genius might be a little too much for her to understand.” Leo softly laughed.
