코르티스, “과감히 도전했다”…Apple 50주년 행사 무대 #코르티스 #CORTIS #Apple #Apple명동 #TodayatApple #GREENGREEN #YOUNGCREATORCREW 코르티스(CORTIS)가 Apple 창립 50주년을 기념하는 현장에서 대담과 공연을 함께 선보이며 관객과 만났다. 다섯 멤버는 창의성을 화두로 한 대화를 나누고, 데뷔곡과 신보 수록곡 무대를 잇달아 펼치며 현장 열기를 끌어올렸다. 코르티스(마틴, 제임스, 주훈, 성현, 건호)는 3월 18일 서울 Apple 명동에서 열린 ‘스포트라이트: CORTIS와 함께 선 밖에 색칠하기’에 참석했다. 이 자리는 Apple 50주년을 기념한 글로벌 프로젝트 가운데 하나로 마련됐으며, 사전 신청을 거친 수백 명의 참가자와 국내외 취재진이 몰려 공간을 가득 채웠다. 코르티스, Apple 명동 ‘Today at Apple 세션’ 참석해 대담·공연 진행. (사진=Apple) 행사 진행을 맡은 재재는 코르티스를 “대중음악계에서 새롭고 독창적인 색채를 보여주고 있는 팀”이라고 소개하며 분위기를 이끌었다. 그는 팀명 의미를 언급하며 “‘세상이 정한 기준과 규칙에서 벗어나 자유롭게 사고한다’는 의미를 담은 팀명은 Apple과 결을 같이 한다. 시대를 앞서가는 창의성을 가장 완벽하게 보여주는 아티스트”라고 평가했다. 본격적인 대담에서 멤버들은 Apple이 강조해온 ‘다르게 생각하는 것’(Thinking Different)을 자신들의 경험과 연결해 풀어냈다. 마틴은 “창의성은 예술의 영역에만 해당하는 것은 아니라고 생각한다. 일상 속 고민, 인간으로서 내리는 선택도 하나의 창의성”이라고 말하며 창의성에 대한 자신의 생각을 전했다. 그 과정에서 멤버들이 기억에 남는 순간으로 신인상 수상을 꼽은 대목도 나왔다. 건호는 “멤버들과 함께 작업하며 만들어낸 성과라 뿌듯했다. 수상 무대에서 웅장한 객석 풍경을 보고 울컥했던 기억이 난다”라고 말하며 당시를 떠올렸다. 코르티스는 음악, 안무, 영상을 직접 창작하는 ‘영 크리에이터 크루’로 활동해온 만큼 평소 작업 방식에 대해서도 구체적으로 언급했다. 성현은 “멜로디나 가사가 떠오르면 음성 메모에 수시로 저장해둔다. 연습생 때부터 Apple의 음악 제작 프로그램도 자주 사용하고 있다”라고 설명하며 실질적인 작업 습관을 공유했다. 이날 현장에서는 5월 4일 정식 발매를 앞둔 미니 2집 ‘GREENGREEN’에 대한 이야기도 이어졌다. 제임스는 “데뷔 앨범에 비해 한층 ‘날 것’의 이미지를 담는 과감한 도전을 해봤다. 자연스럽고 거친 느낌으로 지금의 저희를 잘 표현해 봤다”라고 말하며 신보의 방향을 언급했다. 수록곡 ‘YOUNGCREATORCREW’에 얽힌 비하인드도 공개됐다. 주훈은 “많은 분들이 저희를 ‘영 크리에이터 크루’라고 불러주신 것을 유쾌하게 풀었다. 마이크를 가운데 놓고 빙 둘러 서 프리스타일을 하다 나온 곡이다”라고 전하며 곡이 탄생한 순간을 들려줬다. 코르티스는 대담에 이어 현장을 공연으로 채웠다. 데뷔곡 ‘What You Want’, ‘GO!’와 함께 ‘YOUNGCREATORCREW’를 연달아 선보이며 Apple 명동 매장을 빠르게 콘서트 분위기로 바꿨다. 멤버들의 역동적인 에너지 속에 참가자들은 뜨거운 환호와 떼창으로 호응하며 현장을 함께 만들었다. 코르티스와 Apple의 인연은 이번 자리에 앞서서도 이어져 왔다. 지난 1월에는 ‘GO!’ 퍼포먼스 비디오를 180도 시야각의 8K 초고해상도 Apple Immersive Video(애플 몰입형 비디오) 포맷으로 제작해 Apple Vision Pro 콘텐츠로 선보였고, 지난해에는 Apple Music의 ‘더 제인 로우 쇼’(The Zane Lowe Show)에 출연해 반응을 얻었다. 코르티스의 미니 2집 ‘GREENGREEN’은 5월 4일 정식 발매된다.
