クロコダイルの仲間だけれど、口吻が細長くてガビアルみたいだから、ガビアルモドキだそうです。確かに、ちょっと華奢な印象ですけれど、ワニと聞いてパっと思い浮かべる姿に近い、ワニらしいワニですよね。かっこよくて好き。

A photograph of Adam by Armin Reindl. He is a large Tomistoma with four short legs and long and narrow jaws as well as a long tail. His colours are a earthy brown with dark spots along his flanks and dark bands on his tail. He is shown swimming close to the edge of his pool, which is overhung by foliage, with two fish swimming just above his tail.
Leila, a slender snouted crocodile photographed by Dominik Moser. She is smaller than Adam, but has a similar elongated head with slender jaws. She is uniformly dark coloured, dark grey to black. The photo shows her swimming close to the bottom of her aquarium, a glass window overseeing the lobby of the aquarium just below her. A leaf covers most of her tail.
News from Vienna. Adam the False Gharial, the previous inhabitant of the crocodilian exhibit in the Haus des Meeres, has been transferred to Leipzig for breeding purposes.
In his place, the aquarium now features Leila, a West African Slender-Snouted Crocodile.
