Workers who fall for ‘corporate bullshit’ may be worse at their jobs, study finds New study finds that employees impressed by corporate speak may be least equipped to make effective decisions

This would explain a lot re the #ToxicManagerialism we see driving the #HigherEducation sector for the last decade (+)

Huxter consultants selling nonsense wrapped in Bureacratic gobbledygook and #TechnoPropoganda have convinced a lot of SMTs to destructive ends

A clear example of #ToxicManagerialism in #HigherEd (other than expensive vanity projects, needless restructuring, + bureaucratic bloat) is process that put #academics in direct competition with each other.

It ignores the working and epistemic reality of knowledge production/communnication.

In the UK, we have seen governing bodies, "Executive Search Firms", and UUK almost conspire to hire those inculcated into the worst forms of #ToxicManagerialism to lead #HEIs.

It's a major reason we see the crises in #UKHE at present (along with underfunding).

One of the clearest signs of #ToxicManagerialism in #HigherEducation is when senior managers perceive their institutions fiscally rather than epistemically.

This is where ideology trumps function.

The endgame of the #ToxicManagerialism we have seen plaguing #HigherEducation in the last decade or so.

The sector has been cursed with a leadership that seems not to understand the basics nor benefits of #HigherLearning; focusing instead on a reductive pursuit of a false exchange value!

One of the key mistakes they make in this regard (same with New Public Management over here and how it introduced #ToxicManagerialism to public sector orgs) is the conflation of cost efficiency (an issue of surplus value extraction) with service efficacy (use value).

One of the greatest category errors we see in contemporary public and civic life (especially #HigherEducation) is the conflation of service efficacy with cost efficiency.

Defining the former in terms of the latter (a key component of #ToxicManagerialism) guarantees the erosion of service.
