One of the clearest signs of #ToxicManagerialism in #HigherEducation is when senior managers perceive their institutions fiscally rather than epistemically.

This is where ideology trumps function.

Saving a folder of tweets about UK research and results to post after the #UCUstrikes as I'm not crossing the digital picket line - lots of important things to talk about, but *that's the point*: HE workers deserve employment security to do this vital labour.

As an academic from a working class background, I want to make three key points on #UCUstrikes. 1) Academia careers are somewhat privileged; 2) but only for some and exploitation is widespread; and 3) any labour victory empowers all labour, everywhere.

Perhaps after the #COVID19 business has calmed down, the media can start dedicating the same level of coverage to mental illness and suicide which impacts many more people. Then, maybe, things like the #UCUstrikes will become less necessary. @MindCharity

A) Fund more & longer-term postdocs.
B) Recognise 'ECR' is nonsense & includes many who are mid-career.
C) Change internal & learned society funding rules to incl senior 'ECRs'
