Ich hatte, als ich als Studi auf #Grabung KGB und später Frauenkirche in #Dresden arbeitete, wunderbare Kolleg*innen /Lehrer*innen aus England + Irland. Dem lieben Johnny/John Cronin aus #Cork haben wir einen #Trabi Combi besorgt - für seinen Vater, d. als Bäcker ein solch praktisches Gefährt wollte
Vom All zum Alltag: #Trabi war ackertauglich (wichtig), wenn man Beifahrersitz rausgenommen hat (ja, das ging) passten mehrere Hafer- oder Mehlsäcke rein (dann lag er auch sicherer auf d. Straße 🤪), hochbeinig genug, um durch Schnee zu kommen, passte ne ganze Volltigiergruppe rein

Keď máš na aute disky drahšie ako auto samotné. Vidieť tuto legendu pojazdnú je už rarita. Pamätáte si keď v 90 r. mali U2 turné “ZOO TV” nad pódiom boli zavesené a svietili. A ako ten dvojtakt smrdel, vzadu často nálepka DDR a kolóna aút za nimi 😂

A side view of a Trabant, affectionately known as Trabi, which were pretty common in East Germany, then unfairly scorned after German reunification when East Germans dumped them in favor of fancy western cars. Well, this one’s more than 50 years old and still driving like new.
10 years ago today we got this baby. My son came with me to see it. He was 3 at the time. I asked if we should get it and he said yeah, so we did. Guy selling it also had pythons for sale. But the kid said no to them. They were smart decisions.
