This whole 'Chinese' vs. 'Western' dragon discourse somehow completely forgets that 龍 long has also been a Chinese Buddhist translation of Sanskrit nāga नाग, and longwang 龍王 (dragon king) that of nāgarāja नागराज for 1,500 years or so... #transculturalstudies
