Bode's galaxy, or M81, in Ursa Major. A spiral galaxy showing a bright central nucleus, with spiral arms showing blueish colours of hot young stars as well as bright red hydrogen alpha star forming regions. To the right of the image is a faint galaxy - Holmberg IX. The galaxy has bright blue and yellow foreground Milky Way stars surrounding it.

A trio of galaxies in the constellation Draco. The spiral galaxy on the left of the image is NGC 5985, around 140 million light-years away

The fuzzy elliptical galaxy NGC 5982 is in the centre of the image. This galaxy was discovered by Sir William Hershel in 1788.

NGC 5981 is an edge-on spiral galaxy to the right of the frame. The galaxy has a prominent line of dust towards one side.

Messier 65 and 66 in Leo. M66 on the left of the image shows regions with hot young stars in blue, red star forming regions with hydrogen alpha emission, and darker dust lanes. M65, on the right of the image, is a spiral galaxy with a prominent dust lane on the upper right. Both galaxies are part of the Leo triplet

SNR G206.9+02.3, The Helmut Kohl Nebula - AstroBin I could not find a name for this one, so I decided to call it “Helmut Kohl” because its shape reminds me of the former German chancellor.

🔭 This is the Super Nova Remnant (SNR) G206.9+2.3. The image was taken from Spain with narrowband filters (Ha and OIII). I couldn't find a nice name for it, so I call it "The Helmut Kohl Nebula". Germans will understand.

🔭 The Triangulum Galaxy, M33 is a beautiful sight. 2.73 million light years from earth it's the third largest galaxy visible. I took this photo using LRGB and Ha filters for about 20 hours.

The Helix Nebula (NGC7293) is a planetary nebula in Aquarius. It is one of the closest planetary nebula to us and was formed by an intermediate to low mass star shedding its outer layers at the end of its life. The red colours are hydrogen-alpha, the yellowy clouds indicate some silicon2, and the blue colours are oxygen3

A comparison of two images of NGC7331, an unbarred spiral galaxy in Pegasus. Both images are luminance only, with 2024 being 22 x 300s in L and 2025 being 10 x 180s in L, so as not to blow out the core.

The supernova is clearly visible at about 2 o'clock from the galaxy centre in the 2025 image.
