Retaining the #TripleLock means that the US, Russia, China, France and UK can veto a decision by the Irish government AND parliament to deploy more than 12 Irish Defence Forces personnel overseas for peacekeeping and peace support. It denies sovereignty, undermines democracy and erodes neutrality.
The irony of the #TripleLock and #neutrality issue in #Ireland is that in the event of European War Three no one is going to take a blind piece of notice. Belligerents, that is, Russia and NATO members, will fight and if Ireland has strategic value, they will do whatever they need to, regardless. 🤷♂️
