A red sea urchin is pressed against an Aquarium tank, its spines pointing in all directions. Between the spines are smaller tendrils known as tube feet. The urchin's teeth, which look like five small white triangles in the center of its body, are visible.
Urchins are known for their spines, but they have another special adaptation: tubefeet, the tiny tendrils between the spines. Each “foot” can expand and contract, anchoring the urchin in place, pulling it across the seafloor, and passing food to its mouth.
