Ayen doesn't mean to start trouble—not this time. He never means to start bad trouble. It's just that sometimes Chan-hyung needs distracting, or Changbin-hyung needs cheering up, or Hannie-hyung needs reminding that he's not THAT much older than Ayen, not really. So, okay, maybe Ayen gets into trouble kind of often, but most of the time it's at least partly on purpose! This time it's not. This time it's...complicated. His mother would tell him to start at the beginning. It all started with a pendant, and a raven. It got complicated because Ayen has never been good at knowing when to back down.
But, no, that's not quite right. And if there's one thing Ayen has learned from Chan-hyung, it's that stories can start lots of different places. So maybe it started when Ayen made friends with Seungmin, and got complicated when that meant he started coming onto land more often than anyone else dares. But that's still not the beginning, is it. Because Ayen met Seungmin when he was visiting his mother, and his mother lives on land because she's a fox spirit. Ayen lived on land with her when he was little-little, but she moved them to the Sea Court once Ayen could breathe safely underwater. But that's too far back, even for one of Chan-hyung's stories. So maybe it's easiest to say this: it all started with a pendant, and a raven, and Ayen not being good at taking no for an answer.
