The #UniversityOfCalifornia, my alma mater, was founded on #ThisDayInHistory in 1868 when the governor signed a bill that passed assets of two prior institutions into a new public university. #UCBerkeley, its first campus, opened in 1873. The UC system is the top-rated in the US.
