We have seen it! We have seen it!
'Tis the airship that we mean;
It's tail was like a dragon's.
And its eyes were big and green.
From out its awful nostrils
Two flames of fire spread.
And there were horns of mighty size
Protruding from its head.
It swept athwart the heavens
Like an eagle in its flight,
And there seemed to be around it
A blue sulphuric light!
It mingled with the twinkling stars,
It cut the moon in two,
And then swept down into the east,
And faded out of view.
We have seen it! We have seen it,
As it swept across the skies,
And there is no use denying
That it causes hair to rise.
Oh, its eyes were green; its nostrils
Seemed to send out tongues of flame—
Say, hit that bottle gently,
And then kindly pass the same.
An airship poem.
