Dan Carter: The genomics training will help the team use new techniques to search for remerging viruses in rodents that may pose a risk to humans. With this information, if infections occur, we hope to be able to detect these cases in clinical settings.

Yang Zhao: These workshops have provided invaluable local insights into Rift Valley Fever to inform national strategies on disease detection and reporting. Working with communities, we can better prevent outbreaks and safeguard lives and livelihoods.

Ugandan communities are at the heart of Rift Valley Fever research with UVRI/MRC Uganda & #UKPHRST.

In a series of workshops, the team listened to local voices from village to national level, to co-develop recommendations to improve detection and response to zoonotic diseases.
