🤔 It’s so easy to suggest when you’ve never experienced the cost of War❗️
“It’s very easy to order an attack when you’re not the one doing the attacking”
Admiral “Bull” Halsey WWII

I must admit to a feeling of heaviness when gazing upon the submerged ship from the USS Arizona memorial. The remains of over 900 people remain with ship… #warwhatisitgoodforabsolutelynothing #pearlharbor #ussarizona

85 years after the attack on Pearl Harbor, oil continues to seep from the Arizona. Hence, the rainbow sheen on the water… 🌈🌊 #ussarizona
I was supposed to visit the USS Arizona Memorial when I was 10 years old. My mother left me behind in my grandmother’s house in Pearl City because I “didn’t wake up on time”. 😾 My sister rectified this incident of poor judgment by taking me last Saturday. #ussarizona
White concrete bridge-like structure, just above the water with docking ramp for boats in the front and text: USS ARIZONA MEMORIAL. USA flag above against blue sky with a few white clouds. Green vegetation in the land behind. Rusty remnants of a boat sticking from the water on the right.
Yesterday I visited #USSArizona World War II. Memorial. It was humbling experience. A beautiful morning, as it was on Dec 7, 1941, until the Japanese army attacked.

“The war was one hour in, and we’d already lost it.” - Clair Boggs, my grand-uncle, on #PearlHarborDay. He was a great guy. #USSArizona #wwiihistory
Today is Pearl Harbor Day. It was a humbling experience to get to visit this memorial the day before the 84th anniversary. 🇺🇸

Remains of the USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor.
It has been many years since we took this picture of the remains of the USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor. It sunk at 8:06 a.m. local time, on Dec. 7th, 1941, when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. #PearlHarborDay #USSArizona
Today we remember the 2,403 Americans that perished in the attack on Pearl Harbor, 84 years ago on Dec 7, 1941. Pictured is the USS Battleship Arizona memorial. #arizonamemorial #ussarizona #ussarizonamemorial #PearlHarbor #WWII #wwiihistory #WWIIHeroes #usnavy #USNavyHistory #bluemoonistic
A bell was ring as the names of native Arizonans, who perished on December 7 1941 aboard the #USSArizona, were read this morning.

The #PearlHarbor sneak-attack occurred #ThisDayInHistory in 1941. #Japanese 'planes from six aircraft carriers bombed the base, damaging all 8 battleships and sinking 4, but except for #USSArizona all were returned to service. 2403 American were killed and the US entered #WWII.
On this day, 84 years ago, 360 Japanese warplanes descended on the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor in a vicious assault on Americans. The surprise attack drew the U.S. irrevocably into World War II.
No more wars.
Remember those who lost their lives this day of remembrance.

USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor
December 7, 1941
A direct bomb strike ignited its ammunition magazine, causing a massive explosion that killed 1,177 crew and sent the ship to the harbor floor
The oil still seeping from the sunken hull is often called "the tears of the Arizona"

Normally #Nat and I take our #SundayStroll up to the UofA. I didn't want to see the flag at Old Main nor the flag at the #USSArizona memorial at half staff.
I especially didn't want to see the flag flying over true heroes and patriots lowered for no reason.

Physically and mentally
this week was hard for me.
As it's been for all of us who are paying attention.
But, it's a new week so I will try to keep hanging onto #hope for us all.
For #Stunday here's a #lizard that, like #Nat and I, was paying it's respect to the men of the #USSArizona.

A long view of some of the plaques with the names of the men of the USS Arizona on the mall of the University of Arizona. I said a prayer and asked for their forgiveness.
