It enabled the detection of far-ultraviolet #FUV and near-ultraviolet #NUV emissions with key #AstroSat payload #UVIT, a state-of-art indigenously developed high-sensitivity #telescope.

The discovery detected the far #ultraviolet emissions from #novae in the #AndromedaGalaxy #M31, located 2.5 million light-years away. Using #UVIT, #astronomers at #IIA observed the phenomenon of such #ultraviolet emissions during outbursts in 42 novae, capturing 4 such emissions in real-time.
