#MikeJohnson blasted the Senate-passed bill, which would #fund all of #DHS except #ICE & #CBP (BC IT IS FULLY FUNDED, REGARDLESS! SO, That's not a win) calling it “a joke.” #NAZIS place full #blame on the #Democrats, even though #RepublicansControlTheSenate and #thebill #passed by #UnanimousConsent.
The California Assembly has taken swift action by granting unanimous consent to re-refer multiple bills and open the floor for guests—what does this mean for upcoming legislation?

Bet you that Sen Higgins..the one dissenting voice in the house is getting lit up on by other Republicans and democrats. Trump needs to sign this period. #unanimousconsent #epsteinfiles
@schumer.senate.gov
Thank you for today, Senator!
#UnanimousConsent
And Mike Johnson lied his shaky ass off afterward. He's a complete failure.
BREAKING: The House overwhelmingly passed a bill to force the release of files related to the Justice Department’s investigation into #Epstein The Senate quickly moved to pass the legislation by #unanimousconsent The bill now goes to President Donald Trump for his signature. @ms.now #EpsteinFiles
Speaking of quid pro quo, and given that reopening the government surely meant the seating of the final piece of the discharge petition, we may now have the payoff for Schumer allowing his caucus to cave for seemingly nothing in return... 🤔 #unanimousconsent #EpsteinFiles #Trump

From what I have read, we do not want a vote by 'unanimous consent' because then the individual votes are not accounted for. You don't know who voted against it. I may be wrong. But I want to know which Republicans voted *against* this bill. #UnanimousConsent

“#GasLitNation #Juneteenth2025 edition, plus HOW #Impeachment puts every person in Congress on-the-record: #BoughtOught or #DemocracyDefender!? “Welcome to the skeptic’s guide to impeachment. Why is a third impeachment effort of Trump necessary? Because demanding impeachment puts every member of Congress on trial, revealing who we can trust and who is bought off. Meet unanimous consent: the Senate’s dirty little secret, and the power Democrats refuse to use. Imagine if all it took to stop the Senate in its tracks was one simple word: No. Unanimous consent is a very real procedural quirk that gives every single senator, regardless of party or seniority, enormous power. All they have to do is deny consent. Just say no, and legislative business slows to a crawl. Now here’s the catch: Republicans use this tool constantly. Democrats? Almost never. And that’s not because they can’t; it’s because they choose not to. How does unanimous consent work? In the Senate, many of the chamber’s archaic rules can be bypassed if no one objects. This process is called unanimous consent. It’s used for everything from skipping quorum calls to fast-tracking nominations. The idea is to keep things moving. But here’s the shocking part: any senator, at any time, for any reason, can halt this entire process by simply saying, “I object.” Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville famously abused this mechanism to block military promotions for nearly a year. And he paid no price for it. Why? Because it’s perfectly within Senate rules. And yet, while authoritarianism rises, civil liberties are under siege, and people are being literally kidnapped off American streets, not a single Democratic senator has used this tool to slow the machinery down. By mid-April, according to Keira Havens, an organizer of Citizens Impeachment, along with former Congressional staffer for Senator Tina Smith of Minnesota, there were already around 500 recorded unanimous consent agreements in the 2025 Congressional Record.…

Hey @amyklobuchar.com @smith.senate.gov , are you going to allow "business as usual" as the country falls deeper into dictatorship???? SHUT IT DOWN!!! This is your opportunity to protest. You have one voice and one voice only, deny #UnanimousConsent! #Dystopia
Bro ok fine. Sounds great.
Is there anyone out there who wants to pick it up the unanimous consent work? I have a spreadsheet you can fill in and I can show you what to look for.
Because that's another thing you could do @warren.senate.gov. stop giving #unanimousconsent.
This is why dems need to #block #UNANIMOUSCONSENT
Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
The battle outside ragin'
Will soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'
#UnanimousConsent
The fucking loser pos DEMS have once again proved that ALL THEY HAVE is performative Politics.
@booker.senate.gov just petformed and got a lot of love, attention, & MONEY but when the performance was over HE AND EVERY DEM. Fell in line.
No #UNANIMOUSCONSENT objection?
Really??
Fuck you. CLOWNS!
Absolutely nothing, save CSPAN/Senate staffers' dinners.
Booker & all @democrats.senate.gov have power to halt business w #QuorumCall & #UnanimousConsent: none do.
Today @booker.senate.gov de facto confirmed yet another Trump nominee he had power to stop.
Tonight is fundraising for 3/31 quarter-end.
Lesson, my Senator is that *none* of you feckless Vichy @democrats.senate.gov care enough about our Republic to give up your comfy 4 day weekends & block all Senate business-including blocking Trump’s cronies-via #QuorumCalls & withholding #UnanimousConsent.
We see you, #MuskBoy.
Profile In Coward.
@aoc.bsky.social
what are you going to do when they come for ACA?
@schumer.senate.gov
well? the deaths that follow will be on your souls.
#unanimousconsent
When will we see you drop the performative shtick & force Trump's machine to a crawl by using every opportunity Senate rules give you to demand #QuorumCall & withhold #UnanimousConsent?
How often have you done this since Trump took office?
If it isn't "every time"-why the de facto collaboration Liz?
The refusal to even attempt to govern with integrity is enraging. I started counting up UC requests because of @senategabe.bsky.social's work for more info on #unanimousconsent not sure if this is in 5-4's wheelhouse but would love to talk more about it

There was a lot of talk and a lot of performative voting and absolutely none of it mattered. Keep your eyes - and the ask - on the action: Tell your Senators to withhold #unanimousconsent. Their job is obstruction and if they aren't doing that they need to go.

Screenshot showing skeets with transcriptions of the number of items included in the UC request to move the continuing resolution through the Senate. Full text Skeet 1: Ok one by one here - Unanimous consent to rescind quorum call - Unanimous consent that motion to proceed with 1968 be withdrawn - If this is agreed to that the senate immediately invoke cloture - And if cloture is invoked Merkeley, Duckworth, Vanhollen and Paul amendments be adopted Full Text, Skeet 2: - Expire all cloture time - Bill be accepted as amended - Proceed to immediate consideration of senate version of bill - + 10 minutes for leaders to debate
Morning folks, this is an informal recap of yesterdays incredibly disappointing events. In addition to the ~11 #unanimousconsent requests made throughout the day, they stuffed at least 8 individual actions into a single UC request to pass the continuing resolution and give Trump a budget.
And he actually hits on something - says Congress's pay is a rounding error in their net worth and yep that is true. He is explicitly saying that they value their time more than their pay. This is why #unanimousconsent objections work because they value their time more than their pay.
Any Senator, at any time can withhold #unanimousconsent for any reason whatsoever. @chrismurphyct.bsky.social has already done this to protect against an anti-trans resolution & protest a nominee. @warren.senate.gov has not. Either could rise to the occasion by denying UC. bsky.app/profile/sena...
Week 8, Day 4 #unanimousconsent stats + 🧵 congratulating the Senate for working a Friday AND probably 30 hours+ this week!
UC requests
- Agreed: 13
- Denied: 0
- Avg UC agreements/hr - 1.84 (29.9 hrs in session)
Total Agreements since inauguration- 504
- Total Objections - 24 (20 R, 5 D)
My personal reason to withhold #unanimousconsent today would be "because fuck chuck" that's why, but they can also choose "this would hurt my constituents" or "we are in the middle of a coup" or "this is a betrayal of our nation."
They also don't need a reason (see below) bsky.app/profile/high...
Excerpt from Congressional Record 13 Mar, with Senator Dick Durbin, D-IL Attempting to preserve funding for NIH using unanimous consent and failing because Sen Mullin (R-OK) objects to it. Full Text: Mr. Durbin - I will never stop fighting to protect NIH and the medical research it supports. I hope it once again will become a bipartisan effort. As if in legislative session, I ask unanimous consent that the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions be discharged from further consideration and the Senate now proceed to S. Res. 93; further, that the resolution be agreed to; and that the motion to reconsider be considered made and laid upon the table. The PRESIDING OFFICER. Is there an objection? The Senator from Oklahoma. Mr. MULLIN. I object. The PRESIDING OFFICER. The objection is heard.
The @democrats.senate.gov with the most #unanimousconsent requests (32) is Sen. Durbin of Illinois. He keeps trying, so hard, to go back to a time where he could work with his Republican colleagues. And they just keep laughing in his face. Look at the response to his request to fund NIH.
I didn't realize it before but @schatz.bsky.social is the Deputy Whip. But he requested #unanimousconsent three times in a row yesterday to move along Miran's nomination to Chairman of Economic Councils.
