The Savings Bank Building in downtown Marquette, built in 1891 as a bank, but then later an office building, a dental building, and soon to become a hotel. It's shaped somewhat like a bread scraper (wider inn the front, skinnier in the back) because of a rail line that used to run between it and the building to its left, a line that fed DSS&A dock number 4 in Marquette's Lower Harbor.
On an actual spring day here in Marquette, let me introduce you to one of the city's iconic structures--the Savings Bank Building, built in 1891 and shaped like it is because of a rail line that used to run right next to it.
