As I start off the last day at #VASCD24, I am struck again at how often I’ve heard people talk about students with such love and care here. Working in schools is very hard right now. Everyone I’ve heard at this conference has addressed that through how we help students (and teachers) not punish.

Also, I am clearly picking fantastic sessions at #VASCD24 or all of the sessions are fantastic. Right now I’m in a session on burnout that is talking about students in the best ways, ways that are honest and respect students and teachers. It’s beautiful.

Spending my second day with educators at #VASCD24 has me doing a lot of thinking, of course. One thing I’m thinking about are behavior challenges teachers are talking about.

Could it be that our curriculum and instructional expectations are so high that we can’t (don’t) help kids with behavior?

Spent the afternoon polishing my presentation for #VASCD24. I’m presenting on Wednesday, and I can’t wait to discuss the importance of leveraging your specialist team. Too often we work in isolation. When specialists collaborate, we are able to better support the needs of teachers and students.

I’ve always worked in ESOL! Started as an ESL teacher in a middle school, then moved into a coaching role, & now I’m honored to serve as coordinator at the division level. The best part of my job is training teachers on how to work with MLs 💕 Hope we can meet at #VASCD24!
