There’s an episode of The Simpsons that I saw when I was a child that has remained etched in my mind. In it, parents complained that Michelangelo's David had come to Springfield showing his little friend, and they wanted to cover it up.
That was in 1991, 35 years ago. And... we’re the same, if not worse.
Humans are beautiful. In all their shapes, flavors, and colors. And this is a scientific fact: if we didn't like each other, we would be extinct. In an increasingly censored world, where they try to force us to believe that showing bodies is wrong, we must remember that some of the greatest works of art in history are nudes, from sculptures to drawings and, of course, photography.
But is hard, ain’t?
I myself find it difficult to avoid those imposed insecurities. With my first NSFW photos, I was listed on several lists, blocked, and, although is funny, fought with Bsky's moderators several times about where the line should be drawn. I guess it's because I'm European. Damn liberals who walk naked in the streets, having sex with everyone all the time[...]
And for all that, VPinSpicy was important. It provided a safe space to explore creativity without worries, whether it was taking a risk for the first time or finally having a place to show your art without feeling judged. Because, well, that was the issue, you were obliged to do it, it's not like you had a choice, right? What a shame 😉.
