All'interno di una grande camera bianca, un veicolo spaziale avvolto in una lamina d'oro si erge in posizione verticale tra le due metà dell'ogiva del lanciatore. Inside a large white cleanroom, a gold-covered spacecraft is suspended from an overhead crane by red support straps. The spacecraft sits on top of a large black cone, which is slightly taller and slightly narrower than the spacecraft itself. Several technicians in yellow protective suits stand on both sides of the spacecraft, near metal stairs and platforms that lead up to it. The room is brightly lit, with a very high ceiling and minimal equipment around the edges, emphasising the spacecraft at the centre.
The satellite will be connected to Vega-C through the Vampire adapter (the black cone picture below the satellite).
Smile is an @science.esa.int / CAS satellite, launching on a Vega-C rocket, flight #VV29.

Inside a large white cleanroom, a gold-foil wrapped spacecraft stands upright between two rocket fairing halves. On the left, we see the black inside of one fairing half. On the right, we see the white outside of the other fairing half. Both halves are mounted on blue supporting frames. Several people in light blue protective clothing work around the spacecraft at floor level. Overhead, a large yellow crane spans the room, and the space is brightly lit and orderly.
Shielded up from the harsh surrounding environment it will endure in its ascent towards space, Smile is now safe and cozy inside the Vega-C fairing.
As we've said before, encapsulation is the space equivalent to a hug, and we like hugs! 🤗

Back in January, the first 3 stages of the next Vega-C rocket arrived in French Guiana! #VV29
Manufactured in mainland Europe, the stages were transported by Canopée, the first custom-built transporter to use sails, reducing emissions and saving on fuel by up to 30%.

Start the week with a Smile 😊
In preparation for Vega-C flight #VV29 that will take Smile to orbit from Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana, we're building the rocket that will take her to space.
The P120C solid booster and the Zefiro-40 stage have already been transferred to the launch zone.
