The technology of #Varanto, the 90 GWh #CavernThermalEnergyStorage project in Vantaa, Finland, was't investigated, obviously due to different geology in Nuremberg.
The #PitThermalEnergyStorage option could store 160 GWh but require twice the volume, 2 million m3

@burger_jaap Thanks for raising this, I am hoping that the #Varanto storage project would proceed promptly. According to the 2023 annual Report there was still a complaint on the water economy permit. I couldn't find other updates.
