The view is set below the street level on the banks of the Arno River. Under a sky with clouds tinted gold by the setting sun, portions of two bridge arches step into the Tiber River which also glows with the same gold tone. The bridge is named Sant'Angelo and is lined with large sculptured angels bearing tools of Christ's crucifixion. Under the nearest arch, the Michelangelo's dome rises above a more distant bridge and numerous buildings. A single figure, a fisherman, is nearby and extends his pole over the river.
