Chinyero lies on one (the northwesterly) of three ridges emanating from Teide, Tenerife's central volcano. A single eruption lasting a week or so built up a scoria cone and produced an aa flow.

Yesterday was #VolcanoThursday & the picture is again from the #volcanic island #Lanzarote. Can you see the semicircles made of #rocks? Each hosts a #grapevine. Here a layer of volcanic ash collects can store humidity& protects the plants from the wind.

A blue sky fills the top half of the view, punctuated by a volcano rising from the bottom in a triangular form with the top sliced off roughly at a slight angle. A cloud of smoke - a long puff from the volcano - rises from the peak of the mountain and drifts to the left casting a bit of shadow across the slope. The volcano is dry rock with waved patterns on its rightmost side and towards the very base that we can see there are patches of greenery.
