AEW have precluded a great WCW tag team from reuniting by not allowing Lex Luger's former partner to induct him into the Hall of Fame. #TeamPackage #WCW2000

This is Meltzer’s comparison of where WCW was in February 1999 as opposed to February 2000, it’s scary how fast things went downhill #wcw2000

An ad for WCW’s SuperBrawl 2000 PPV. Beneath the logo for the event and the tagline (“Its out there”) is a very confusing image. There’s an enormous WCW championship belt against a field of stars, with an unidentified wrestler, seen from behind, clinging to it with both hands, face apparently directly against the metal. It truly does look like he’s in the middle of some sort of oral sex act. More confusing still is I have no idea who this is supposed to be. He’s visibly not any of the three men competing for the belt on that show, and doesn’t really resemble ANYONE competing that night.

Starting on SuperBrawl 2000. The Cow Palace is just such a fucking great arena, it’s imparting an aura on this thing it doesn’t deserve. #wcw2000

A clipping from the January 31, 2000 Wrestling Observer Newsletter (note: Simon is Dean Simon aka Dean Malenko, Martin is Troy Martin aka Shane Douglas): They met with McMahon and Jim Ross, and pretty well came to terms, but were told to keep everything quiet. According to Martin, when he got word on 1/22 that the other four were in Connecticut, he didn't believe it, called Simon on his cell phone and was told he was in Florida staying with his brother, but then said he was given word they were staying at the Westin Hotel in Stamford, and when he called the hotel, all four were registered. Simon called him back the next day, but again denied he was ever in Connecticut, and claiming he had no idea how all the names were registered guests. Others close to the situation confirm they were there for a meeting and were told to keep it quiet and even to get out rumors they didn't get a deal they liked, apparently because McMahon still believed he could make their debut a surprise if they swerved people into thinking they were coming back.

Oh, Dean Malenko having to lie to Shane Douglas like this about him, Eddie, Saturn, and Benoit signing with the WWF is REALLY funny. “I don’t know why we’re registered at that hotel” lmaoooooo. #wcw2000

January 24th: The first on-screen appearance of David Arquette, as David Flair gibbers incoherently on commentary. The spiral grows ever steeper. #wcw2000
