Soon, thousands of citizens of the capital fall victim to an even stranger disease, which causes them to exhibit extreme delusions of godhood. She learns that the god plague is a terrorist attack by an unknown group. The group wants her artifact, and destruction of all her data about the miners' fate. Charis has to learn how the two plagues are related, why the terrorists want the artifact, and how to stop the god plague before everyone on the planet exterminates each other in a vast holy war.
