#WMFHS had a similar house history enquiry this week. Change of road name, small runs of villas and cottages renumbered, some demolished to make way for a block of flats. Street directories, electoral rolls, censuses and newspapers got us there in the end. The house is still standing!
And yet more goodies! #WMFHS will be at the #OxfordshireFHS show on 25 October. Come and say hello and see if we can help. We don’t confine our activities to West Middlesex!
Not at our #WMFHS meeting last night? Well you missed a wonderful evening with Phil Isherwood talking about Aunt Gonda. If you’re a member, you can hear the recoding for up to a month. Try it out!
Along with commemorating #WW2 veterans on #VEDay I hope the #BletchleyPark workers weren’t forgotten. On Thursday 15 May #WMFHS welcome #IanThomson to give his talk on the code breakers. Hybrid meeting, doors open 7.30. Full details at www.west-middlesex-fhs.org.uk
A resounding round of applause for #NickBarratt who entertained us last night at #WMFHS with his talk on “Who Do You Think You Are”. No notes, no slides - just the man himself talking about the show, its history, and what it means for history and the audience.
