custom designs for the mega evolved forms of the pokemon raichu. both are more rat-like as well as more raichu-like... mega raichu X is now properly raichu-orange and not the hideous pikachu-yellow of its canon design. it has a more obvious "brawler" look as well as design inspirations from gorochu with a little oni horn and tiger stripe patterns. its tails are much thinner, more rat-like and less stupid-looking. it has more of a scrappy expression, as well as stylized but mostly rat-accurate pawpads. mega raichu Y looks more like raichu and not like pikachu. it has a fluffier, more "fairy-like" design to contrast with X. the weird gross ear growths of the original are stylized into overgrown ear fur that retain excess electricity. #pokemon #pokemonartist #raichu #megaraichu #megaevolution #commissionsopen #commsopen

custom design for the mega evolved form of the pokemon alakazam. my abra line is mostly inspired by aardvarks (NOT ANTEATERS, my original alt txt has an error) with some superficial draconic/reptilian influences. rather than its canonical "meditative" pose with several spoons, mega alakazam is presented in a more feral hunched posture, with a mad wide-eyed expression as it stares directly at the viewer. it has huge hands with elongated alienlike fingers that tangle within its flowing beard. the fur along its spine twists strangely due to the overwhelming psychokinetic energy being released along its spine. in its mega form, alakazam's coloration is also paler than the standard zam. in my custom dex entry (visit my website for cool dex entries for this project!!), i talk about how the process of mega evolution causes alakazam to completely lose control of its psychic powers (opposite of its canon interpretation), so i intended to portray this "beast gone mad with 'knowledge'" element in the design rather than keeping its more "serene" old man look. #pokemon #pokemonartist #alakazam #megaalakazam #commissionsopen #commsopen

custom designs for the pokemon poliwag, poliwhirl, and poliwrath, in a more semirealistic style. poliwag still retails its circular body + big tail shape, but without the pink cartoon fish mouth. it now sports very tiny useless arms and a teal-colored dorsal stripe, which it keeps as it evolves. poliwhirl has a tail and a more pronounced face, albeit still very rounded, resembling a froglet more clearly as to give it more of a unique identity compared to poliwrath. poliwrath also keeps the tail, just without any webbing. since the line is meant to represent neonate frogs, i chose to keep that in its design as one way to help distinguish it from politoed (the actual adult frog). its head is more distinctly froglike compared to poliwhirl, and its coloration is also more vibrant. i kept the swirl pattern as just a pattern rather than making it look like actual innards, since i just find that stylization detail cute on their canon designs... #pokemon #pokemonartist #poliwag #poliwhirl #poliwrath #commissionsopen #commsopen

custom designs for the pokemon mankey and primeape. instead of being spherical, both are presented with more semirealistic monkey anatomy so they fit with my style. mankey is in a standing posture with its arms held out awkwardly at its sides, in the cute way that real monkeys do when they stand up and run on their back legs. it's covered in messy spiky fur, a sharp snaggletooth, bald face, and a broad pig-nose, as well as big pointy ears making it look a bit cat-like (in my dex entry, i mention that my mankey is often mistaken for my meowth). primeape is drawn as a more intimidating baboon-shaped creature. its fur is still messy and spiky, but it has much more of it now, making it look rounder and more stocky. like mankey, it has sharp fangs and a bulbous pig-nose, with a bald face and red markings under its eyes. its ears are still pointed and cat-like, but much smaller now, and it has a stubby tail. it stands on four legs, each wrist/ankle having a dark steel cuffs (in my dex entry, i mention it being common tradition to dress up fighting-type pokemon for battle). primeape is covered in scars to show that it sees a lot of combat in its life. #pokemon #pokemonartist #mankey #primeape #commissionsopen #commsopen

custom designs for the pokemon psyduck and golduck. both pokemon now have a stronger resemblance to platypuses. psyduck has a rounded stub tail, with a few messy tufts of hair on its head and tail. its arms and legs are more broad and "paw-shaped" now and have short claws. it also has thick black square eyebrows purely for rule of cute reasons. golduck has a hunched posture and is overall meant to be more evocative of a kappa-like creature. its tail is long and blunt-tipped, and it has small venomous spines on its back feet (like a platypus). the tuft of hair on its head is larger and more crest-shaped. #pokemon #pokemonartist #psyduck #golduck #commissionsopen #commsopen

custom designs for the pokemon nidoran (male), nidorino, and nidoking. similar to my female nido line, my male nido line is more mammalian in inspiration with more minimal reptilian features, and they also sport speckled pelt patterns. their spines are thicker than my female nido line, looking more pangolin-ish rather than porcupine-ish. all three are noticeably more furry (though not covered in a thick coat of fur; it is moreso patchy), unlike my female nido line which mostly has thick armored skin without noticeable fur. male nidoran is also mostly similar to a rabbit in silhouette and features, with huge ears, big back feet, a rabbit nose and large front incisors. he is in an alert upright posture, standing on his back legs, alluding to my dex entry where i talk about how anxious and skittish the male nidoran is compared to the female one. nidorino is in a charging pose as he's mostly similar to a small rhino, just with more claw-shaped nails. he still has very large rabbit-like ears, but he now has big fangs on both his upper and lower jaw rather than prominent incisors. nidoking stands in a hunched upright pose, showing his clawed hands which are capable of very basic grasping (unlike my nidoqueen). he once again has the head shape of a rhino rather than a lizard, but i've also given him a face silhouette meant to be evocative of a rhino beetle for no other reason than to enhance his cool factor. he has a small but (to me) kingly beard of fur, and his tail is also much longer now. his bunny ears are smaller now (like nidoqueen), but he is still a bunny rabbit, don't worry... #nidoran #nidorino #nidoking #pokemon #pokemonartist #commissionsopen

custom designs for the pokemon nidoran (female), nidorina, and nidoqueen. all three now draw moreso from their mammalian inspirations and have less reptilian features (namely in the facial region). they now also all have whiskers and a speckled pelt pattern. nidoran has the face, ears, and general silhouette of a rabbit, the quills of a porcupine, and rhinoceros-esque feet. she has big front teeth. nidorina had a rhinoceros head shape as well as the start of a small horn above its rabbit nose. rhino shoulder "armor" is also present, and she has a bunch of thin quills along her back. she now has tusks. nidoqueen is more reminiscent of kangaskhan, now sporting a big pouch on her belly and more of a kangaroo-esque posture. instead of a beaky lizard face, she has the face and horn of a rhino with rabbit ears and sharp tusks. a few smaller horns go down her head, leading to her ruff of thin porcupine spines. she is covered in thick, wrinkled skin, again meant to be evocative of a rhinoceros. the speckled pattern is much less pronounced on nidoqueen compared to her previous stages. #nidoran #nidorina #nidoqueen #pokemon #pokemonartist #commissionsopen

custom designs for the COOL AND AWESOME snake pokemon ekans and arbok. ekans is much longer and skinnier, mostly resembling a colubrid. i specifically designed it to resemble a ring-necked snake, which is known for its defensive behavior where it curls up its tail and flips its body over to flash its brightly colored belly, which i drew ekans doing as well. it retains its signature cute, vacant snakey expression. arbok is mostly the same, but i gave it scarier unrealistic snake teeth and a more gruesome hood face design. i also made the hood flare out more like a real cobra's, where you can see where its rib bones extend out to create the hood, implying that my arbok can also flatten it back against its body as opposed to the canon arbok (tmk). yay
