Es gab eine deutsche Schule, die gleichgeschaltet war, Lehrpläne aus Deutschland hatte, entsandte Lehrer aus Deutschland. Die waren natürlich alle linientreu zu der Zeit. Das war für die Flüchtlinge natürlich eine ganz ungewohnte, seltsame Situation, dass dann auch die Anhänger des NS-Staates sich in der Türkei frei bewegen konnten, ihre Meinung laut äußern konnten und ihre Einrichtungen hatten.“
