March in happy day paintings Wallowa county calendar. A watercolor painting photographed by Roger Averbeck is the top half of the calendar , storm clouds overtaking mountains as the rain passes. March calendar grid is the lower half of the calendar. Along the right the painting credits “lostine showers, by Kasiah sword, beam watercolor paints on paper, 2023.” Below that are facts about the area; “bitterroot, now protected, was traditionally harvested in spring. It could be eaten raw, prepared much like Camus, boiled, baked on hot stones, or added to stew with meat. Reportedly able to counteract the effects of poison ivy and as a treatment for diabetes.” Next to the happy day paintings gnome logo it says “ keep an eye out for the Lostine farmers market as the weather changes! “ And near the bottom of the right side column, “Enjoy Z’s bbq year round in the county’s historic Lostine Tavern in downtown Lostine.”

Russel ranch painted with a glowing autumn sunset. In the foreground the barn lights illuminate people dancing inside, outside a fire casts shadows of its tenders. The red trees lining Joseph’s Main Street are just visible in the top left, and the mountains are illuminated and casting dramatic shadows.
