They didn’t know it was war. They just trusted us.
They carried soldiers.
Pulled wounded men to safety.
Stood steady under fire.
And they did it all because we asked (made?) them to.
They didn’t choose to serve.
But they served anyway.
Remember them.

Horses in warfare - Wikipedia

Excuse me, folks.

Horses have been in use in crowd control for millennia.

Ever heard the phrase “war horse”?

Mounted police are uniquely effective in dividing people into smaller groups. The average horse is 1,400-2,000 lbs.

They are well trained.

They actually will instinctively try not to step on any living thing! War horses are trained to stomp on people, that's exactly what was going through my mind watching that.

You have zero clues about what the mass of a horse trained to control crowds can do. They don’t shy when loud noises (gunfire), or toxic chemicals (tear gas), or flashbang grenades are employed by their riders or others.

1400-2000 lbs of horse is not a trivial thing.

Access to these sacred grazing grounds influenced ancient cavalry prowess and gave empires nestled south of the Pontiac Caspian steppe great early advantage in raising and supporting elite warhorses. Horses that Alexander the Great and Emperor Wu would use in their expansion campaigns.

Over 450,000 horses were lost in WWI & WWII, many dogs too.
