Affordable Water Now Today I introduced The Water Affordability and Shutoff Protections Act (HB 4555) This bill addresses the immediate need to stop harmful water shutoffs by: Prohibiting shutoffs for vulnerable households, including seniors, low-income residents, and homes with young children. Requiring water providers to issue clear notice and offer payment plan options before shutoffs. Strengthening due process protections and ensuring consistent statewide standards. The Water Affordability and Shutoff Protections bill is the first in a forthcoming legislative package titled Affordable Water Now, which will be introduced in the coming weeks.
