Meet the Hine's Emerald dragonfly. It is rare. Some bogs in Door County are the best places to find it. Do you support the Hine's Emerald becoming Wisconsin's state insect? This question is for you to answer on the DNR Spring Questionnaire but only from April 13 to 15. Some reasons to support selection of the Hine's Emerald as our state insect: - The Hine's Emerald depends on healthy bogs, which are a cherished feature of Wisconsin's natural landscape. - Like other dragonflies, its nymphys and adults prey upon mosquitoes, etc. - The Hine's Emerald is the only federally endangered dragonfly. - The Hine's Emerald is found only in a handful of states with the most sizeable and significant population in Door County. - Its thorax is prominently marked with Green and Gold!
The Wisconsin Dragonfly Society is leading efforts to install the Hine's Emerald dragonfly as our state insect! Vote in the DNR Spring Questionnaire on this incentive April 13-18. #WDS #dragonfly #WIDragonflySociety #odonate
