Wisconsin Odonata Survey

In 2025, ode watchers submitted 8711 sightings from 1594 locations across Wisconsin to the Wisconsin Odonata Survey. This is the third highest number of submissions per year in the history of the WOS project. wiatri.net/inventory/od...

Perched dragonfly with wings wide, striped torso and black tail with white spots

A beautiful Yellow-sided Skimmer sits on a fig branch. The wings are mostly clear, but the leading edge has a smoky orange line from base to tip. The eyes are dark. This one has yellow sides on the long abdomen and a black stripe runs down the 'spine'. The thorax has clear yellow marks.

Une libellule déprimée (c'est pas qu'elle est dépressive. Le nom est relatif à la forme de l'abdomen qui présente une dépression, un creux). Elle est posée sur une brindille. Son abdomen bleu nous enseigne qu'il s'agit d'un mâle. Arrière plan très flou de vert et de gris.

En ce moment je fais du tri dans mes photos et je me dis : "pourquoi ne pas en profiter pour poster les plus chouettes?"
Ici un mâle libellule déprimée.
