They Don’t Protect Us- John Pegram
They Don’t Protect Us- John Pegram One of the wonderful speakers from our June 2021 event “They Don’t Protect Us”, a history of police and monitoring groups presented by Bristol Copwatch in affiliation with the Institute of Race Relations. John is the founding member Bristol Copwatch and a community activist. He has been involved with anti-racist campaigning for many years and has been monitoring police since 2018. He has lived experience of stop and search and racial profiling, having been stopped 53 times in his life. John was dragged through the criminal justice system at a young age and understands the trap of the cycle many Black youth find themselves caught up in, he understands the trauma police can create and is a firm believer that we should challenge police power and resit racist and disproportionate policing. Stay up to date with any future events at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/bristol-copwatch-32610654769 Subtitles will be available shortly.
